Frequently Asked Questions

Are you asleep or unconscious during hypnosis?

No, you are neither asleep nor unconscious during hypnosis. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility but it is not the same as being asleep or unconscious. While in hypnosis, you remain conscious and aware of your surroundings. You will hear my voice and you will be able to respond to questions if prompted. You can also choose to end the session at any time if you would like!

Is hypnosis mind control?

While you are in hypnosis, you would not do or say anything that you would not do or say in your wide awake state. You remain in control the entire time. Also, all suggestions given to the client during hypnosis will be in line with their goals and motivations.

Can you get stuck in hypnosis?

No, you cannot get stuck in hypnosis. If the session were to end unexpectedly, you would simply come out of it naturally. It would be similar to how you might come back to full awareness after a daydream.

Are some people not able to be hypnotized?

Nearly everyone can be hypnotized. There are some cognitive issues that may prevent it but for the vast majority of people this will not be an issue. Some people are able to go into hypnosis fairly easily while others it is more difficult. There are many factors that play into this and I will test for this in the first session and tailer my approach to be most effective for you.

Is hypnotherapy a magic cure-all?

Hypnotherapy can be a highly effective tool for many issues, however, it is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy in cases of severe mental health conditions. It works best when used as part of a holistic approach to well-being. Also, it is important to note that the client has a responsibility to follow through with advice/recommendations from myself to help alleviate the issue during the time outside of sessions. Hypnotherapy is most effective with active collaboration and participation between myself and the client.
